PROJECT SCOPE
The winner of an international design competition, the African Burial Ground National Monument in lower Manhattan is the largest, and oldest known excavated burial ground for free and enslaved Africans in North America. DGA not only designed the lighting for the project on a pro bono basis, but also worked with luminaire manufacturers to furnish equipment at no or low-cost, in honor of the memorial’s unique cultural significance and commemorative character.
