BRIDGE TOWERS
Buffalo, NY
PROJECT SCOPE
Domingo Gonzalez Associates completed work Just in time for the July 4, 2000 "Op-Sail" celebrations, DGA brought the towers for the GWB to life. Originally designed to be clad with stone, the bridge towers' lacy structure lent itself to internal articulation via a total of 787 metal halide floodlights. The three-year design process included the development of alternative lighting design options, renderings, layouts, calculations, and specifications. In order to help assess the validity of the design options, full size mockups were developed and documented for review by PANYNJ officials.
