SECOND AVENUE
STATION
New York, NY
PROJECT SCOPE
“On the boards” since 1928 and restarting in 2001, four gleaming new stations opened following a 15-year effort that saw the introduction of numerous custom luminaires designed to define public areas in a visually pleasing, maintainable and energy efficient manner. Lighting approaches were coordinated to enhance the significant public art presence at each of the stations. Consistent luminaire types were meticulously adapted to both deep and shallow stations, and deep underground stations uplifted via uplighting and wall washing. The lighting installation results in a gracious public transportation environment that sets the stage for succeeding phases.
